How to Host the Ultimate Houston Rodeo Pre-Game (Buckle Bunny Edition)
March 18, 2026 4:46 am Leave your thoughtsHere’s the thing about rodeo season in Houston: everybody wants to go, and nobody wants to show up cold. The pre-party is half the event. Maybe more.
If you’re the one putting it together, you already know the pressure. You need a place that can hold your group, handle a drink order without falling apart, and not make you feel like you’re herding cats in a hotel lobby.
We’ve got space at Eureka Heights. We’ve got beer. And we’ve got a year-round craft beer brand called Buckle Bunny that was basically made for this time of year.
1. Pick the Right Space Before Someone Else Does
Houston rodeo runs for weeks, and the city’s good venues book up fast.
At our brewery, you’ve got a couple of options depending on how big your group is and how much control you want over the night. For smaller crews, a reserved table works fine. For larger groups — corporate outings, birthday parties, bachelorette weekends, friends who’ve been talking about this rodeo trip since October — a private event rental gives you dedicated space, a staff that’s focused on your group, and a lot less chaos.
Either way, you’re in the Heights, which means you’re not fighting for a parking garage downtown and you’re not paying $18 for a beer that tastes like it was filtered through a boot.
If you’re interested, head on over to our event reservation page to lock in your date.
2. Build a Timeline That Actually Works
The mistake most people make is starting too late. You want to arrive downtown or at NRG with your group already warm, fed, and in a good mood — not scrambling from an Uber in four different groups because the reservations got confusing.
We recommend y’all gather at the brewery two to two-and-a-half hours before your rodeo start time. Give people an hour to settle in, drink something good, eat if they want. Then you’ve got buffer for the commute and the line and all the other stuff that takes longer than it should every damn time.
Build more buffer than you think you need. Houston traffic during rodeo week is its own event.
3. Drink Something Worth Talking About
This is where Buckle Bunny comes in. Order a round, let people try it, and suddenly you’ve got a conversation going that isn’t just “what time does the headliner go on.”
We brew a full lineup here, so if Buckle Bunny isn’t someone’s thing, they’re not stuck.
4. Keep the Logistics Simple
A few things that make running a group event less stressful:
- Call ahead and talk to our events team if you have a big group. Walking in with a large group on a Friday in March without a heads-up is technically possible, but not recommended.
- Decide ahead of time whether you’re doing a tab or individual checks. Either works. Just know what you want before you get there so you’re not making that decision with twelve people looking at you.
- If you’re doing a private rental, we’ll talk through timing, minimums, and setup. We’ll get back to you as soon as you fill up the reservation form.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book a private event at Eureka Heights?
For rodeo season specifically, a few weeks out is recommended. The closer you get to your event date, the tighter availability gets. If you’ve got a firm date, reach out sooner rather than later.
Can I reserve a table for a smaller group without doing a full private rental?
Yes. Table reservations work well for groups that don’t need a fully dedicated space.
Is there food at Eureka Heights?
We typically have food truck options available. Confirm the details when you book so your group isn’t hungry two beers in.
Is Eureka Heights close to NRG Stadium or downtown Houston?
We’re in the Heights, so we’re a reasonable rideshare or drive from both. Plan your commute time and you’ll be fine. Don’t plan it and you’ll be sprinting through a parking lot.
